THE HOLLYWOOD HOT SPOT ANNOUNCES FIRST DJ WORKSHOP    

Next Thursday, the Hollywood Hot Spot will host its first free DJ workshop for Hollywood-area high school students.  The Hot Spot is a project of Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti to provide eight weeks of free summer programs for local high school students.

Participants in the DJ workshop will learn from some of the best DJs in town: DJ Mr. Casual, DJ. Jeremy Roueche, and DJ Pistole Pete. The workshop will be held on July 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Helen Bernstein High School. 

Students can also check out the urban art classes or rock band sessions that take place at the Hollywood Hot Spot.

SUMMER NIGHT LIGHTS ARE ON IN GLASSELL PARK  


The Summer Night Lights program, which offers free activities for families in a safe, supervised environment, is now operating at the Glassell Park Recreation Center.  People of all ages can enjoy free food, sports, skating on a mobile skate park, arts and crafts, music, Capoeira lessons, boxing clinics, parenting classes, and much more.  

Summer Night Lights is open Wednesday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight until September 5.

JOIN THE BIG PARADE THROUGH LOS ANGELES 


Join fellow Angelenos this weekend in the Big Parade, an exciting two-day walk through Los Angeles that starts in Downtown at the famous Angel's Flight Stairway and ends at the Hollywood sign. The walk covers approximately 40 miles and 135 stairways and includes an overnight camp-out at the famous Music Box Stairs in Silver Lake (pictured at right in the Laurel and Hardy movie The Music Box).

All community members and local organizations are invited to join this walk through the city's most diverse neighborhoods. The walk is broken into specific segments so that walkers of all ages and levels of fitness can join at specific times.
