GARCETTI HELPS SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS ACCESS ENTERPRISE ZONE DISCOUNTS AND TAX INCENTIVES

Many businesses in the 13th City Council District are located within the State Enterprise Zone, making them eligible for employer tax breaks, discounts on their water and power bills, and other incentives for locating in these areas that need more economic activity.  Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti is going door-to-door to let business owners know about the opportunities that may be available to them.

"We want to encourage and help small business owners who have chosen to locate their businesses in the areas that have the greatest need for jobs, redevelopment of blighted properties, and economic investment,” said Council President Garcetti.   "Smaller business owners are often not aware that they qualify for assistance such as discounts on their water and power.  We're going door-to-door to let them know."

To learn more or find out if your business is in a State Enterprise Zone, please visit the City of Los Angeles's Community Development Department website.

GARCETTI JOINS ECHO PARK NEIGHBORS AT CALIFORNIA COASTAL  CLEAN UP DAY

Council President Garcetti was one of more than 12,000 people in Los Angeles County who joined efforts to clean up California's coasts on California Coastal Cleanup Day.  In Echo Park, dozens of students, residents, and community leaders participated in a cleanup around Echo Park Lake organized by the Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council, Heal the Bay, Central City Action Committee, Echo Park Trash Abatement Project, and the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation.

“In Los Angeles, our lakes, river, and rain gutters are connected to our beautiful ocean.  Trash in our streets ultimately ends up on our coast. Its important that we clean up today and teach people to clean up their trash every day because it not only keeps our neighborhoods looking good, it also keeps our beaches clean and our ocean healthy,” said Council President Garcetti.

California Coastal Cleanup day has been a tradition since its inception in 1985, and this year volunteers helped pick up the effort's 1 millionth pound of trash.
