DWP Shortage Rates
DWP's water conservation measures went into effect June 1, restricting lawn watering with automatic sprinklers to Mondays and Thursdays, before 9:00 am and after 4:00 pm. Watering by hand with a flow-control nozzle is allowed on any day, before 9:00 am and after 4:00 pm.

Citrus Sunday 2009
Neighborhood Councils, Fire Stations, community groups and hundreds of volunteers participated in our 4th Annual Citrus Sunday, on Sunday, May 3, 2009. About 20,000 lbs. of oranges and grapefruits were picked and dropped off at Fire Stations and distributed by Valley Interfaith Council to needy families served at their food banks.

The State Assembly is considering a bill to require a $0.25 charge for disposable plastic bags in an effort to reduce the environmental damage caused by the tens of billions of plastic shopping bags that are used and thrown away every year.

New Anti Gang Legislation
We introduced legislation May 30, 2008, that would allow us to permanently seize the vehicles used by known gang members while committing crimes. It was part of a large package of anti-gang initiatives together with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, LAPD Chief William Bratton and Councilman Jack Weiss.

Earth Day 2007 Celebration at Chatsworth Park
Nearly 100 residents joined Councilman Greig Smith, and the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council for our environmental clean-up and free tree give away in celebration of Earth Day on Sunday, April 22 at Chatsworth Park North. Volunteers removed trash and debris and painted over graffiti.
