The Presentation by Jaime Garcia, Regional Vice President provided the Commission with data relative to behavioral health in the nation, State, and County, the level of demand for and accessibility to behavioral health services, the principal diagnosis, the barriers to providing mental health services and how they impact service provision, and opportunities for action.
Mr. Garcia responded to questions from the Commission Members.

Commission Members would like further information on behavioral health as it relates to the City of Los Angeles, specifically:
- The number of hospitals
- how many are operating in the red
- percent of impact of behavioral health on medical services
- federal funds received
- increase in medical service rates v. costs
- Number of mental health hospital beds and their concentration citywide
Commission Members would like to review and discuss the annual report for 2020.
Request that the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) get data specific to the City of Los Angeles.
The need for increased medical reimbursements for providers.
Commission Member attendance.
Los Angeles County capacity in the event of a major emergency.
