Approval of the Minutes from November 13, 2017.

Discussion and/or action on Proximity of Housing to Freeways.

 

Discussion held and opportunity for public comment provided.

 

Motion (Grimmig - Hisserich) approved to submit a health impact statement to the City, Department of Planning, and Health, Education and Neighborhood Council Committee.  Based on the evidence the commission reviewed, they have found there are negative impacts for people living within 1,000 feet of freeways, especially children, senior citizens and people with respiratory problems.

Discussion and/or action on City Council motion (Bonin - Huizar), Council file No. 17-1092, relative to the need for additional public restrooms and the potential for creating a system of portable public restrooms.

 

Discussion held and opportunity for public comment provided.

 

Motion (Sharp - Kato) approved to endorse the City Council Homelessness and Poverty Committees' recommended options to the full City Council for a rapid expansion of the hygiene facility program.

  • Exploring sobering centers 

  • Closure of hospitals in response to State legislation  

  • Total number of hospital beds in the metropolitan area; and where hospitals currently are in expanding or retracting of beds    

  • Emergency psychiatric centers

  • Cannabis - upcoming legislation/new policies

  • Getting an update from Department of Planning - Healthy LA
